Shower Thoughts and A Little Announcement

Hello everybody, today I thought I would write a bit about thoughts in the shower, because we all have them. I also have a little announcement. Other than that welcome back to Smiley Central!
I plan these posts in the shower and I know that most youtubers come up with their video ideas in the shower, I also think/question the quality of life and sing my heart out in the shower, like most people. If I don't acheive a few of those things I feel that that shower has not been a successful one.
You know that voice in the back of your head that tells you there are monsters outside when you close your eyes in the shower? Or that feeling you get when you are sure that a bug is going to crawl out from the drain any second? It give me the creeps.
Okay, time for the announcement, I will be posting everyday at 7:00! Except for the days I don't have WiFi, but don't worry because you will still get all the posts I missed on the next day that I have WiFi.
Copy and paste this link: gymnasticsgirl2003.blogspot.co.nz to enjoy an amazing blog by my good friend.
Other than that I hoped you enjoyed this post and I will catch you tomorrow at 7:00 pm.

3 Reasons Why I'm Weird

Hello everybody, today I thought I would give you more reasons to believe I'm weird/insane. I hope you enjoy this post and all the weirdness that comes along with it and welcome back to Smiley Central.

1) Socks
As you would have gathered if you read my previous post, I have a sock chart, if that wasn't weird enough for you, I wore my daily socks under my normal socks. As the weather is getting more winter-like, I feel bad if I don't wear them to bed. Now would be a good time to tell you all about my sister's fear of feet, she ALWAYS wears socks because she hates seeing feet, she says toes look like gross aliens, she also dislikes ears and makes sure that her's aren't visible.

2) Guinea Pigs
I'm OBSESSED with guinea pigs and this can come across a bit insane to people who don't know me very well. In chats (on gmail) I can spaz out and just type guinea pigs, I later have to apologize and explain. In hard materials at school I'm making a guinea pig hutch, people find this a bit weird as there is a world of possibilities yet I want to make a guinea pig hutch. (I do have guinea pigs so I'm not completely insane, imagine spending all the time and effort making a hutch to look at, I'm not judging but ummmm ...)

3) Fake Children
Okay, I know what you're thinking, but I'm not a psychopath. I love tiny people and when I was at primary I would look after the little five-year-old kids, but now I can't do that because there are none so I use my friends. I can't wait to have kids but I'm going to wait until I have a steady job.

So that's it for now but if you want me to continue this series then let me know in the comments below, I hope you enjoyed this post.

One more thing, it's pink shirt day (this basically means bully-free day)! This international awareness day was triggered when a boy in Canada wore a pink shirt to school and got teased. The next day all his friends wore pink shirts to school to stand up for him.

I hope you are having a smiley day and I'll be back very soon with another post.

Me and My Socks

Hey guys, I thought I would do a cheeky little update with a random subject so welcome back to Smiley Central!

So a few days ago I bought some socks (I know, cool story Catherine) and there just happened to seven pairs, so with my having OCD, alarm bells went off in my head, there are seven days, this gave me an idea of wearing the same colour pair of socks for each day, so now I have a "sock chart", although you probably don't care, here it is:

Monday : Black
Tuesday : White
Wednesday : Pink
Thursday : Blue
Friday : Hot Pink
Saturday : Fluro Pink
Sunday : Yellow

It's Monday today so I wore my black socks under my school socks, I love new socks, they're great for pirouetting, I couldn't resist!

Okay, short update with the development of this blog, I will try to post at least once a week but please don't get upset if I don't, I might just be busy. Well I'm going to go now, sorry about how short this post is but I thought I should write a little post while I watch the finale of The X Factor NZ (GO BEAU).

OCD - My Experience

Welcome back to Smiley Central, as I said in my first post, I have OCD. This is not only very annoying but is also stressful and time-consuming. In this post I will try to explain OCD to those that live without it and bust the commonly believed OCD myths, there are a lot so I'll try my best!

First let me try and explain OCD as short as possible. Google will tell you that OCD is:
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a disorder of the brain and behavior. OCD causes severe anxiety in those affected. OCD involves both obsessions and compulsions that take a lot of time and get in the way of important activities the person values.
Which is a pretty good explanation except from describing the feeling as "severe anxiety", feelings are hard to describe but I will try to explain to you what OCD is like.
When I was younger I would stay up hours past my bed time worrying that my dying wouldn't be even to my first and hoping that I wouldn't turn over in the night and not turn back over.

Some people that don't understand OCD don't know that there are many different types. When you have had OCD for a while, you will start to categorize these people. So for those of you that don't have OCD, here are some categories.

1) OCD is being a clean freak
This is the type of OCD in which the sufferer can't bear to have any germs on them and will freak if they have dirt under their finger nails. My Nana knew someone like this and then thought that was all OCD was, she was wrong. Maybe the person she knew either didn't know much about other types of OCD or, understandably, didn't want to talk about it. People with this type of OCD are very vulnerable to bulling, they generally wash their hands every two minutes and blurt out facts like it takes the average hand dryer 45 second to remove 97.5% of the moisture from your hands (yes, that's true) and it can be easy to make fun of them but please don't, their OCD is hard enough to deal with already, the don't need all the teasing.

2) OCD is being organised
When a teacher found out that I have OCD she said that she wished her husband had the condition, I immediately knew that she though OCD is just organizing. Some people think that obsessive organizing is something that you do and be done with, but it isn't. When obsessive organizers organised, they don't stop or do things by measures, it takes up a lot of their time and energy, disabling them from doing what they want to do, this can also effect their ability to complete work.

3) OCD is checking things over and over
Some people with OCD check things frequently even though they know they turned off the oven, some people that suffer severely with that kind of OCD count all the tiles in their house before leaving. These OCD horror stories are usually the ones that capture headlines, this cause people to believe that only that is OCD because the magazines usually leave out the rest of the information or it gets cut.

4) OCD is repeating
Some people repeat actions until it feels right or safe. Other people know about this and, for the millionth time, think this is all OCD is, you know the drill, it is so much more and don't make fun of them.

In order to not bore you to death I will just tell some types of OCD:

  • Checking
  • Repeating
  • Organizing
  • Cleaning
  • Hoarding
  • A need for symmetry

Thanks for reading this looong post, I hope I haven't taken to much of your time and I'm sorry for not posting in about two weeks.

Have a fantabulous day,
